The Five Star Stories RPG

The Five Star Stories is a manga series created by Nagano Mamoru, building on his work on the anime series Heavy Metal L-Gaim. The story is staged at an alien cluster of four major planetary systems. The God of Light, Amaterasu, the immortal emperor of the Greece Kingdom on the Delta Belune planet, is destined to rule the whole Joker System. He and Lachesis, his bride and fatima, are the main characters of this epic story.

After so many requests over the years about this, I finally have time to redo The Five Star Stories Role Playing Game. This project actually started in the early 90s when I was an avid RPG gamer. So this work has always been a “work in progress” and will continue to be so. I’ve updated it with a new look and feel. I even added more pictures. The website I took down 6 years ago had an 80s or early 90s “high on drugs” gaudy look. Now that I have more time on my hands, I’ll try to update the information on this site as much as possible.

In my arsenal of information, the background in this RPG was originally translated by a good friend of mine, R.S. of Studio Phoenix (which was the company name back then). R.S. gave me mounds of information contained in the first original five magna...all handwritten literal translations. On top of that, Nagano-sensei has a very eccentric style of writing and presentation of terms and story. Even when translated in English, a lot of terms and means are very, very vague and very difficult to understand. There’s also a lot of German and French names used throughout the volumes. I personally bought the first seven original volumes and tried to compare the info. Even though my understanding of Japanese was bad and horrible at reading kanji (Chinese characters used in Japanese)...I tried to sort the info out and put it all together in straight forward role-play gamer terms.

In the turn of the millennium, Toys Press finally released The Five Star Stories in English. I have the first 10 books which covers the first 3 in the original. My next mission, trying to combine the information from the English books into the RPG. Also, I’m trying to look for the remaining English volumes of the manga.
